Voxel Theme GPL Overview
Downloading Voxel
To download Voxel, please follow these steps:
- Visit the Subscription page and open your order.
- Under the “Downloads” accordion, you will find the downloadable package.
- In the “License information” accordion, you will find your license key.
You will need the license key to activate Voxel on your website. The number of activations available for your key will depend on the plan you purchased. For instance, if your plan includes two activations, you can use it to activate two production websites and two staging websites.
Minimum requirements
Before you proceed, make sure the minimum server requirements are met.
- PHP 7.3 or higher
- MySQL 8 or MariaDB 10.3 or higher
- 64MB or higher memory limit
Installing Voxel
- Go to WP Admin ➝ Appearance ➝ Themes ➝ Add new
- Select the downloadable package and upload
- Activate the theme
- At this point you will be redirected to the Onboarding wizard and you way follow the on-screen instructions
Onboarding
During onboarding, you can add your license key and optionally import a demo.
Importing a demo should not take more than 1-2 minutes. If you notice the demo import taking too long, it’s possible there’s some plugin interfering with the process. In that case, go to the plugins page and make sure any plugins unrelated to Voxel are disabled. You can enable them after import is complete.
Voxel Child theme
A child theme inherits the look and feel of the parent theme and all of its functions, but can be used to make modifications to any part of the theme. In this way, customizations are kept separate from the parent theme’s files. Using a child theme lets you upgrade the parent theme without affecting the customizations you’ve made to your site.
General membership settings
General membership settings are configured in WP admin ➝ Voxel ➝ Settings ➝ Membership
Registration
- Require email verification: If enabled, the user is sent an email confirmation code after signing up. The code must be provided in the email confirmation screen in order for registration to be completed.
Tax collection
Setup tax collection for membership purchases.
- Collect tax ID
See list of supported countries here - Select tax collection mode: Automatic (via Stripe tax), Manual, None
Promotion codes
If enabled, you can allow Stripe promo codes to be applied during checkout.
Membership roles
Membership roles can be used to separate your users into different groups. For example, in a business directory site you can make available a user role for regular users who browse your site, and business users who submit their businesses. You can then tailor their experience using various tools Voxel offers such as visibility rules.
Roles created and managed with Voxel are WordPress user roles, but as they are intended for front-end use, their capabilities in terms of WordPress permissions are based on the default Subscriber user role WordPress provides.
Managing roles
In WP admin ➝ Membership ➝ Roles, you can create and manage user roles. By default, in a blank installation you should see the Subscriber role. This role is added by WordPress itself and can be managed with Voxel. If you don’t create other roles, any users registered on your site will be assigned this role.
If there are roles with equal permissions to Subscriber added by 3rd party plugins or code, they will be made visible and can be managed with Voxel aswell.
Roles with higher permissions cannot be managed with Voxel by default for security reasons. If you are a developer and understand the risks, this ability can be enabled at your own risk. For more details, get in touch with Voxel customer support.
Creating a role
To create a role, press Create role button on the top right side of the screen.
A label and a unique key must be provided to create a user role.
